About HTC
The High Tech Consortium of Southern New Mexico (HTC) is organized and operated as a volunteer, grassroots organization. The HTC provides leadership that fosters the retention and growth of technology in Southern New Mexico. Beginning operations in 2003, the HTC had a general membership of thirty. Today, there are over one hundred HTC members from across New Mexico, comprising of individuals, small business owners, large corporations, government agencies, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations. The HTC holds monthly membership meetings and breakfast and lunch events featuring some of Southern New Mexico's top leaders in technology, business, education and government.
Headquartered in Las Cruces, NM the High Tech Consortium's vision is to make New Mexico a regional technology leader and a national center for technical excellence.
The Goals, Vision and Objectives of the HTC of Southern New Mexico
- Provide a leadership that fosters the retention and growth of technology in southern New Mexico
- Promote a business atmosphere conductive to growing the high-tech sector in Southern New Mexico
- Be the regional voice representing and advocating the political and business related interests of the technology sector
- Establish partnerships that promote high-tech industries in Southern New Mexico
- Support the development and retention of qualified high-tech workforce in the region
- Actively foster an environment that produces excellence in education at all levels
- Support endeavors that enrich the quality of life in the region
- Partner with other organizations to create a business atmosphere to promote growth in New Mexico
- Be the resource for economic, business and political issues in the technology area
- Be a catalyst to bring together education and business for students and workforce development with focus in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) to include digital arts and digital media, etc.
- Support the development and retention of a qualified high-tech workforce in the region. Collect and distribute professional resumes of our members and associates. Promote training programs for the growth of the technology industries.
- Provide mentors and subject matter expertise to promote excellence in education
- Partner with other organizations to create a business atmosphere to promote growth in New Mexico
- Be the resource for economic, business and political issues in the technology area
- Be a catalyst to bring together education and business for students and workforce development with focus in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) to include digital arts and digital media, etc.

- Re-establish relationships with a wide variety of technology-oriented programs at NMSU.
- Continue support of the Spaceport Authority promotion, job opportunities,
- reestablish connection with all private contractors and the government at WSMR for aiding their staffing with promotion of tech job opportunities
- Emphasis on technology companies located in Southern New Mexico/West Texas region and the Rio Grande Corridor.
- Continue to support digital media and film projects, we have run the Digital Media Summit for three years and will continue this year too
- Continue provide a voice and support to local economic development organizations and chambers
- Promote and support our local retail IT service operations, including the major
- Continue to offer assistance, advice and support to Qwest advancing their investment in internet server quantity and quality and expanded connectivity of good and high speed broadband service
- Continue to question our political representatives, both state and local with what they intend to do to support local high tech jobs and businesses
